Be informed
The Utah County Republican Convention is coming up, and as a Precinct Vice-Chair, I will be attending as a delegate. As I've studied and met with the various candidates, I've decided that being involved in the political process at the grass roots level is very important. Please know the issues before you vote on anything. Please do a little research of your own into the various candidates in your areas. Don't vote for change just for the sake of change, make sure you vote for the best candidate for the job--incumbent or not. Be informed.

Here Comes...?
I'm now allowed to tell everyone that Kathy and Brice are expecting baby #3 in early October. This baby makes 7 grandchildren for John and me.

Work or Play?
Eagle Court of Honor
Last September, John pulled together the 17 Life Scouts in our ward, along with their parents, and challenged them to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout by February in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America. Thousands of service hours were put in, tens of thousands of people helped, and 15 young men (2 of the 17 had moved away) were awarded the rank of Eagle Scout all on the same night--March 20, 2010. John couldn't have been prouder. He arranged for each Eagle Scout to receive a flag that had flown over our nation's capitol, as well as letters of commendation from Utah's Senators and Representatives, and the Governor. The Young Men's General Board also sent letters of commendation. Pleasant Grove's Mayor was in attendance, as well as a representative from Senator Bob Bennett's office, and the local Scouting commission.
With all the flags flying, the well-done powerpoint presentation highlighting the various Eagle projects, and the beautifully uniformed young men being honored, the evening was truly an event to remember. I've never seen John so excited to pull something together. He was bursting at the seams with pride and satisfaction that everything came together and all 15 boys achieved their Eagle rank.
