Grandbaby # 5

Sarah and Nathaniel went to the hospital at 5:00 on Friday, and Baby Jessica arrived at 6:15 PM. Sarah followed Kathy's example in using hypno-birthing, and delivered without any medication or IV's. What a trouper! Jessica weighed 9 lb. 8 oz., but was originally listed as 10 lb. 11 oz. Don't ask me how they miss-weigh a baby.

Jessica had a little trouble breathing to begin with--she must have inhaled some amniotic fluid. She was making little wheezing noises, and they kept her in the nursery for a good while before bringing her to Sarah. Sarah was in recovery for 3 hours before finally going to her room, so we didn't get a call about the birth until 9:15 PM. And here I'd been worrying all that time about Sarah's labor, and thinking that it was good (at 9:00) that it hadn't been too, too long. Come to find out she'd had the baby 3 hours earlier!

The baby is beautiful with a fair amount of dark auburn hair. Jessica looks alot like what I remember Sarah and Billy looking like, but maybe it's just the size...and the nose :)

Scarecrow Festival

This is what we did for our family activity this month. Sorry to all the adults who didn't get included in the pictures. I guess that's what happens when the grandkids are the center of attention :)

Time for Change

Our ward received a new Relief Society Presidency today. I was released, along with the rest of the old presidency. Those three women I served with have become my dear friends, and we have shared many good times and special moments. After serving as the education counselor for over three years, I'm feeling a little lost right now, but I'm sure whatever comes next will fill that empty space. The Lord has an amazing way of leading and guiding us in the way that would help us be our best selves.

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

Today I asked my 1st graders why they thought we'd be learning about baseball in music class. One little gal said it was because when the bat hits the ball, it makes a high sound, but when the ball hits the glove, it makes a low sound.

Music to my ears!

Actually it's because we're about to learn a new song. But I sure had fun showing them all the baseball paraphernalia I'd gathered up from around the house, including John's old 'George's Plumbing' uniform. We left the singing for next time.
