Train Up A Child

You know that scripture that talks about training up a child in the way they should go? Well...at the risk of seeming terribly irreverent, here is one of my interpretations of that:

I used to love to visit my Grandma Newbold and look through all her costume jewelry. I was fortunate to receive this necklace and earring set from her collection and I wanted my grand-daughters to gain appreciation for their heritage :)

The Homecoming

I don't have all the pictures, and probably not the best ones, but I do have some--and I can show off my newly returned missionary son!

2009 Christmas Moments

Overdue for Posting

Christmas vacation is over, but we still have presents under the tree. Billy will be home on Friday, Jan. 8th, and he wanted to see all the decorations, so we saved his presents for him as well. The first week of Christmas vacation was spent sewing for the grandkids. The second week was spent cleaning out Billy's room and any related areas. I'm amazed at the amount of stuff that keeps leaving our house for D.I. and even more amazed at the amount of stuff that still needs to leave!
Basically, my life is currently consumed with getting ready for my son to arrive home from Brazil. And though I didn't take any pictures of the mountains of D.I. contributions we made throughout December, I did take pictures of the PJ's I sewed for the 3 oldest grandkids. So I'm posting the PJ pics just to give myself a pat on the back.

Privacy Issues

Out of respect for my family members, I'm seriously considering making my blog private. That means I almost for sure will, it's just a matter of when. So if you're interested in checking out the Hiatt's, drop me a line in an email, on facebook, in a comment, by phone, etc., and I'll send you an invitation when the time is right for privacy.
Kathy gave a two month notice. That sounds about right. By the end of January, this blog will be private.

Memorable Quotes

Grandson #1 to Grand-daughter #1 concerning asking for make-up for Christmas:
"Remember...Grandma said to ask for diamonds instead."
